Black Ink

My tattoos mean a lot to me, more than people realize. I got a tattoo that I had been wanting for a couple of years, and I swear I fall more and more in love with it every time that I look at it because it's so beautiful.

S'S 14 Designer Spotlight: Pucci

The designers definitely brought the heat for their S'S 14 Collections, but one particular collection stood out in particular, and that was Pucci. Pucci combined classic silhouettes with trendy patterns and fabrics. His collection was very eye catching and definitely left nothing to be desired. If I had to choose a favorite collection from S'S '14 so far, Pucci would definitely have my vote!

A Night Off

I've been working like crazy lately, as I type this, I'm at work lol. I rarely ever have off days. When I found out about Empire of the Sun (one of the greatest bands of all time IMO) coming to Atlanta to perform, I was ecstatic. Somehow, despite forgetting to request that Wednesday off, I managed to receive it off anyway. I bought my outfit from my job and the next day I was off and ready to go. I was lifted and sipping on Henn, but I maintined my composure and ended up having an awesome night.

You know it's going to be a great night when you see me smiling lol. I never smile!

My outfit: wearing a lace shirt with nothing under it made me a tad bit uncomfortable so I put my jacket on before we reached the venue.

Posing after the show.

Me & Kiera during a break in the show. Can you tell what we did before lol? ;)

My Birthday

On Saturday, August 17th, I finally turned 21. The days that led up to my birthday were very eventful. I got bad news, had to cancel my trip to Florida, had to push my car off of a rock (long story lol), and on my birthday one of the craziest events ever took place but I'm thankful that I was able to see another year. I don't have many pictures from my birthday but that's fine because I plan on celebrating my birthday again after my friend Kiera's birthday lol.

So check out my birthday outfit below:

Dress: American Apparel
Shoes: Forever 21

My first legal drink lol!

Check out my video interview with Shanika Simmons of Broke2Dope.com! We had a lot of fun filming and I'm glad that Shanika even considered me for this opportunity. I'm definitely not where I was last year and I can only go up from here. Let's work.

Something New...

Last week, Beyonce set the world on fire when she debuted a new pixie cut on Instagram. Beyonce is known for her long, blond mane and while there are rumors that she cannot change her hair color due to a contract with L'Oreal, it's good to see her experimenting with different hairstyles!

Just a few days ago, she was seen in Miami with Jay Z and Baby Blue. This time she was rocking a blond bob that was reminiscent of her hairstyle in the Me, Myself, and I video and I am here for it!

Beyonce always slays, and you will deal. After all, she is the King...

New Nails

My birthday is quickly approaching and since I will be leaving for Florida on Wednesday, I decided to get my nails done today.

I had planned on getting a baby blue color but my good friend, Tavie is in town and she has the exact color I want on her nails. :/

After a quick brainstorm session, I envisioned a lilac/lavender color. My nail shop very rarely has the colors I want, so when they had this color, I was ecstatic! The color looks exactly the way I want it to and it's been getting tons of compliments. Looking forward to finding the color that tops this one...

Pop Art

I had a video interview with Shanika of the blog Broke2Dope yesterday. I found Shanika's blog while looking up information about someone that was participating in a fashion event that I was having last summer and instantly loved her straight to the point and informative style of writing. When she decided that she wanted to interview me, I was beyond excited! I got to talk about working as a wardrobe stylist and show off a few pieces from The RAD! Shop! :)

Since I was going to be in Little Five Points, I wanted a stylish yet effortless outfit. I chose a plain white tee that I tied a knot in, a bright wrap skirt, and my favorite brown gladiator sandals. I accessorized with a gold chain necklace, gold cross earrings, and a stack of bracelets that I coordinated to match my watch.

Hitting the Scene in Seafoam Green

...kind of. Today was a chill day. One where I ran a few errands such as going to my job, buying items to restock my stylist kit, and prepping for my Broke2Dope interview on Wednesday among other things. I wanted a simple outfit. Something that I could be comfortable and still look good in so I selected a simple black and white striped tank, one of my favorite maxi skirts, and my Prabal Gurung for Target sandals with a silver ankle cuff. I added an upper arm cuff, gold cross earrings, and made my own temporary finger to wrist bracelet using one of my gold chains.

That's So Clutch

Ever since I can remember I have had a love affair with huge bags, the bigger the better. I was always the girl that had the biggest bag full of snacks, make-up, and whatever else you needed lol. However, as I got older and started going out more, I began to scale down my purse size. From oversize bags to totes, from totes to small shoulder bags, and from there I ended up falling in love with clutches.

Clutches are just so chic. They can be oversize, they can be super small. They can be made out of leather, they can be made out of denim. No other form of a handbag adds that extra oomph and chicness like a clutch does. For a night out you can fit all your necessities in it: lip gloss and/or lipstick, ID, phone, cards and/or cash, and business cards (depending on where you are that night).

Start out buying clutches in basic black and white, and then graduate to trying out clutches in different colors, styles and fabrics! Fashion is not fire. Play with it. Have fun. Step outside of your comfort zone and you might experience something you like.

And Another One...

Today I was featured on a magazine/blog called Lipstick Dream Mag. I was featured for my styling work and and as owner of The RAD! Shop!

I have posted a snippet of the interview below:

Have you ever gone into a  clothing store and saw something so amazing only to find out it was way above your price range? It’s the worse feeling ever. Well  fashion stylist and online boutique owner Rene Alise is to the rescue!

Living Young, Wild & Carefree

It's no secret that I love working with Dior. There's always tons of energy at our shoots. We are constantly laughing, cracking jokes, and just having fun doing what we love.

This past Sunday we had a shoot in this big field that I always pass on the way to one of my friend's houses. We had to postpone the shoot for hours and then we had to cut it early due to inclement weather. However, despite that AND the fact that we were mosquito prey for about an hour, we managed to squeeze in two looks and get some amazing shots!

Check out a few snapshots below:

This is a shot of Dior when she first put the button down on. I loved the sexiness and crispness of the oversize white button down and gold chains against her skin but something was off. I simply rolled up the sleeves of the button down and voila! I had the perfect, carefree look that was perfect for the scenery.

Nails...

This post is coming days late as I definitely got my nails done on Monday but oh well lol!

Lately, I've been passing up getting designs on my nails in favor of picking bright, bold colors that are fly enough to stand alone. No design needed.

If you use compliments as a measuring tool of how successful this has been going, then it's been going pretty damn good. I always get tons of compliments on my nails & there's always at least one person in my nail salon that wants to use my color (which I don't particularly like lol).

This time around I went for a soft pink on my toes and this bright melon colored pink on my nails. I can't stop staring at them and the bright, fun color instantly perks me up! :)

The RAD! Shop Boutique Launch

On June 23, 2013, I launched my online boutique at 12 PM! This has been in the works for almost two years and I am glad that it has finally grown into what it is today.

The support from my friends and people that I don't know is overwhelming. I've gotten offers for blog features, designers wanting to sell their stuff in the store, and countless offers for people to promote the store through whatever platform they use.

This journey has been a crazy, emotional one so far, and it is far from over. This was only the first step. I still have so much more that I want to and will accomplish. The messages from people telling me that I have inspired them to go for their dreams make me so happy. If I can inspire people now, how many people will I inspire when I "make it"? Don't listen to any naysayers, haters etc. Just continue to do you and focus on yourself. There will be so much negativity thrown at you but you just have to duck and dodge it. You can't expect everyone to understand your hustle when they were not given your vision.

I wish everybody that reads this much success.

RAD! Style. The RAD! Shop. RAD! is life.

The Lyftd Lyfe Fashion Show

I think life is all about the journey, about setting goals for yourself and taking the steps to achieve those goals. Well, last summer after The Goods Lyfe fashion show, I said that I would be working backstage/ styling at this year's fashion show. After exchanging a few e-mails with one of the coordinators behind the show, I was told that I would be able to work backstage!

I mainly worked on The Good's Clo's set. I had tons of fun but it was definitely a lot of pressure. I got to style in some pieces from The RAD! Shop and some of my friends came out to support which is always great!

I have already set a new goal for next year's fashion show! I'll definitely keep you guys posted on whether or not I achieve it.

The story behind my outfit that night is funny. I had originally selected a cut-out dress to wear but I felt like it was a little too revealing for the fashion show. After one of my guy friends confirmed my suspicions with a round of good-natured, very explicit but still funny jokes, I decided to change. The problem was, I wasn't home and didn't have time to go home. So I ran to my trunk (which due to my photo shoots always has clothing and/or shoes in it) and selected this black jumpsuit. I put on tons of bracelets and cuffs to jazz up my left arm, pulled stacks of rings on my right hand and added a belt and this ended up looking like the outfit I had intended to wear all along. A last minute outfit that gets you tons of compliments? We have a winner!
